CORONASTEP Report 110 (Week 51) SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance in Luxembourg

Summary
This report 110 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 11
wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) analysed during the week 51 of 2021. The WWTPs of Mersch, Wiltz,
Grevenmacher, Echternach and Uebersyren were analysed only once this week. The WWTPs of Hesperange
and Boevange were not analysed this week.
The SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in WWTPs this week continue to show a very high national prevalence of
the virus, with a SARS-CoV-2 flux between 2 and 4 x 1012 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalentinhabitants.
This week's results show an increase of the SARS-CoV-2 flux compared to the previous weeks. The
current SARS-CoV-2 flux is very close to that observed during the major wave of the pandemic in October –
December 2020.
The general trend over several weeks or even months is clearly upwards.
