CORONASTEP Report 95 (Week 36) SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance in Luxembourg

This report 95 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 13 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) analysed during the week 36 of 2021. The WWTPs of Hespérange, Boevange were analysed only once this week.

This week, the SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in WWTPs still shows a high national prevalence of the virus, with a SARS-CoV-2 flux between 3 and 5 x 1011 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants. The first sampling carried out at the beginning of the week highlighted a SARS-CoV-2 level very similar to that of the previous week, while an increase of the signal was observed at the end of the week.

An overall similar pattern is observed for the different wastewater treatment plants analysed, with a slightly increase detected for most of the wastewater treatment plants analysed, especially Bettembourg. Hespérange, Boevange,Uebersyren, Echternach and Bleesbruck.
