CORONASTEP Report 92 (Week 33) SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance in Luxembourg

This report 92 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 12wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) analysed during the week 33 of 2021. The WWTPs of Hespérange,Boevange, Echternach, and Grevenmacher were analysed only once this week. No sample was available atUebersyren this week.
The SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in WWTPs continues to show a high national prevalence of the virus, witha SARS-CoV-2 flux between 9 and 10 x 1011 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants at the earlybeginning of this week. The second analyse show a SARS-CoV-2 flux between 2 and 3 x 1011 RNA copies perday per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants. Compared to last week, a significant increase was again observed at thebeginning of this week, but not confirmed by the second sampling.
As previous week, the most impacted WWTPs is located in the north of the country (Wiltz and Bleesbruck). TheWWTPS of Begen and Pétange have also displayed a high contamination level at the beginning of the week.
