CORONASTEP Report 90 (Week 31) SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance in Luxembourg

This report 90 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 13 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) analysed during the week 31 of 2021. The WWTPs of Hespérange, Boevange, Echternach, Grevenmacher and Uebersyren were analysed only once this week.

The SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in WWTPs continues to show a high national prevalence of the virus, with a SARS-CoV-2 flux between 3 and 4 x 1011 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants. In comparison to last weeks, an increase was observed this week with a SARS-CoV-2 contamination level similar to that measured at the beginning of July.

The most important increases were observed for the WWTPs located in the north of the country (Wiltz, Bleesbruck and Troisvierges) as well as Beggen, Pétange.
