CORONASTEP Report 83 (Week 26) SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance in Luxembourg

This report 83 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 13 wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) analysed during the week 26 of 2021. The WWTPs of Hespérange, Boevange, Beggen, Echternach, Grevenmacher and Ueberysren were analysed only once this week.

The SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in wastewater treatment plants shows a high national prevalence of the virus, with a SARS-CoV-2 flux between 3 and 4 x 1011 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants. The increase observed at the beginning of the week is confirmed here.

At the level of the WWTP, a significant increase is notifiable at Beggen, Hespérange, Bettembourg, Mersch, Boevange and Echternach. The WWTPs of the north of the country seem not to be impacted so far.

The analyses of the next few weeks will have to confirm this result.
