This report 81 presents the results of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of the 11 wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) analysed during the week 25 of 2021. The WWTPs of Hespérange and Boevange were not analysed this week.
The SARS-CoV-2 RNA flux measured in wastewater treatment plants shows a moderate national prevalence of the virus. The flux has around 7 to 8 x 1010 RNA copies per day per 100,000 equivalent-inhabitants, the main contributing WWTP being Pétange. The SARS-CoV-2 measured signal seems to have stabilised over the last week or two.
At the individual wastewater treatment plant scale, the trend is similar with most of the plants having a SARSCoV- 2 flux near the detection limit of the assay, or even below. SARS-CoV-2 genome is no longer detectable in 5 out of 13 treatment plants and present in trace amounts for others.
